However, reacting to the reports in an interview with Adom FM, Martha Ankomah clarified that no such settlement had been agreed upon.
It is not true that we have reached this settlement. It’s sad—I don’t know who is writing those stories. The truth is that the judge told us to bring the apology with us when we went to court. So on 1st April, we will go back to court and review the apology to ensure that it is acceptable.
I have previously indicated that if he apologises and retracts his statements, I would not take anything from him, maybe just our legal costs. But I don’t want anything from him—not a dime.
I just want him to do the right thing so that people understand that you cannot say anything and get away with it in this country. This is simply to serve as a lesson. I am not perfect—everyone makes mistakes and should be forgiven—but I want him to realise that the law works in this country.
The court has made no decision on the settlement. We are just waiting for the apology, and whatever the judge decides will be communicated to the public. His previous apology was inadequate because he failed to retract his statements, including the insults and lies—he went too far.
