Junior operated his mobile money business at the Kwadaso Onion Market in the Ashanti Region and was known to return home with large sums of cash.

Some eyewitnesses suspect this may have made him a target.

“He mostly comes home with huge sums of money after closing from work,” a neighbor revealed. “He probably caught the attention of the robbers, leading to his attack.”

The police have launched an investigation into the incident, but no arrests have been made.

This incident adds to growing concerns about MoMo vendor attacks in the Ashanti Region. Just last month, Patricia Nimako, a 27-year-old mobile money vendor, was shot dead in Krofrom, Kumasi, with her attackers escaping with GH₵10,000 and mobile phones.

Residents of Kwadaso are now calling on authorities to strengthen security in the area.

“We are currently in a state of fear, and we are calling on the Ashanti Regional Police Command to beef up security in Kwadaso,” a resident urged.
