$761,000 Was Stolen from my Storage Room – Cecilia Dapaah Reveals in Court

Former Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Dapaah, has told the Accra High Court that her domestic workers stole $410,000, €300,000, and GHS350,000 from her storage room over an extended period.

She also revealed that jewellery worth $53,000 and other valuable items were taken. This marks her first court appearance since the trial began in 2023.

Taking the witness stand for the first time in the ongoing criminal trial, she told the Accra High Court that her two former female housekeepers stole a total of $410,000, €300,000, and GHS350,000 (approximately $30,000) from her storage room.

According to her, these amounts were taken over an unspecified period, along with jewellery valued at $53,000.

Dapaah, visibly emotional, stated that the stolen items were acquired over a span of 30 years and held great personal significance. She also accused the suspects of taking her husband’s clothing in addition to the money and jewellery.

This is the first time the former minister has appeared in court since the case began in 2023. The trial continues as investigations and proceedings unfold.
