17-Year-Old JHS Student Arrested for Allegedly Killing His Mother Over Missing Memory Card
A shocking incident has been reported in Wassa J.Y No.1, a community in the Sefwi Wiawso District, where a 17-year-old Junior High School (JHS) student, Emmanuel Gyan, has been arrested for allegedly killing his 52-year-old mother, Faustina Agyeiwaa, over a missing mobile phone memory card.

The disturbing story was first spotted on Facebook by LOOPS GH NEWS, after it was shared in a group called AAM-USTED by a user named Kwarteng Jones.
According to police reports, Gyan is accused of hitting his mother multiple times on the head with a pistol, causing her to collapse. In an even more disturbing turn, he allegedly attempted to burn her body using naked flames.

The tragic incident occurred on Monday, January 15, 2024. The Sefwi Wiawso police, who are handling the case, stated that Gyan was brought to the station by his own father, Isaac Somuah (58), along with a witness, Stephen Amponsah.
Somuah and Amponsah reported that Emmanuel had accused his mother of taking his memory card, a claim she denied. Enraged, he allegedly launched a violent attack, repeatedly striking her with the pistol until she died on the spot.
The body of Faustina Agyeiwaa has been deposited at the Bibiani Government Hospital mortuary, where an autopsy is expected to be conducted.
