After being arrested on Friday, May 10, 2025, in relation to a suspected $50,000 fraud case, veteran Ghanaian actor Seth Kwabena Kyere Karikari, better known by his stage name Koo Fori, was released from police custody.
Koo Fori was spotted at a pre-launch party for Peekak Sardine at the Accra-based broadcaster Bryt TV, where he is currently General Manager, in a TikTok video posted by comic actor and social media star Nana Tornado. The star of the Efiewura series showed up in a cheerful mood, mingling with Tornado and finally speaking out about the controversy.
Despite appearing cheerful, Koo Fori refused to provide any particulars regarding the case, saying only:

We will appropriately address the matter at the appropriate time.
On Friday, May 9, 2025, Atinka TV released a video of him being escorted by police officers to the Accra Central Police Command while in handcuffs, which sparked the initial news of his arrest.

However, Koo Fori allegedly went into hiding after failing to fulfill the promise. After numerous attempts to retrieve the money failed, the irate investor—whose identity is being kept secret—filed a formal complaint with the police.
According to additional reports, Koo Fori disregarded a court summons from the Dansoman District Court, where he was supposed to appear on April 17, 2025, and fell behind on his repayment obligations. A bench warrant was issued for his arrest as a result of his noncompliance.
The hearing was moved to Monday, May 12, 2025, even though the actor was originally scheduled to appear in court on Friday, May 9.
