A strong new single called “We Move” has helped Ghanaian musician and socialite Mona Faiz Montrage, better known online as Hajia4Reall, make a comeback in the music industry and on social media.
This release is her first public appearance since she returned to Ghana after serving a year in prison in the United States.
A music video that was shared on her social media channels revealed her comeback.
The uplifting song “If I fall, I go rise,” which encapsulates the theme of resiliency and transformation at the core of her new work, is paired with a dramatic scene of Hajia4Reall in a prison cell, which is a clear nod to her legal past.
Her arrest in the UK in November 2022 and subsequent extradition to the United States in May 2023 marked the beginning of Hajia4Reall’s legal troubles.
She entered a guilty plea in February 2024 to one count of conspiracy to receive stolen funds, which was connected to a romance scam scheme that defrauded victims out of over $2 million.
She received a sentence of 12 months and 1 day in jail by June 2024, along with three years of supervised release. She also had to pay $1,387,458 in restitution and forfeit $216,475 in addition.
Her legal team was able to arrange for her to return to Ghana voluntarily after being sentenced, avoiding additional detention by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
