Expanding from their statement the Office of the Bole Chief Imam continues to prohibit all extravagant wedding ceremonies in Bole Traditional Area because of excessive expenses and wedding misconduct.
The signing official Alhaji Mohammed Iddrisu made ublic this announcement through a declaration which dated back to 5 March.
From Wednesday, 5 March, 2025 onwards I as Chief Imam (Alhaji Mohammed Iddrisu) of Bole Traditional Area am implementing a total ban on Islamic weddings that do not follow Islamic rules inside my domain.
The ban requires every person ready to marry to host their marriage ceremony in alignment with Islamic traditions.
Islamic wedding ceremonies are going to enforce three major bans which include:
Wedding receptions will be prohibited as married couples plan to change several outfits.
Men performing grooming services as women constitute one of the banned practices.
Under this category exists ‘jam’ which describes what people call recording dance.
The statement reveals that authorities adopted this measure to suppress youth deviant conduct along with wedding expenses which had become excessive. High expenditures seem to stand as the main barrier which prevents local youths from realizing their marriage aspirations.
The objective of this decision is to fight against deviant activities that elevate wedding costs until young people face significant barriers to marriage.
