Complete list of 2025 BET Awards winners

Kendrick Lamar was the most nominated artist going into the 2025 BET Awards, which were held on Monday, June 9 at the Peacock Theatre in L.A. Live. He ended up winning the most awards, taking home five out of ten nominations.

Lamar accepted the highly sought-after Album of the Year honor for GNX during the live broadcast. Alongside Dave Free, he won the titles of Video Director of the Year, Best Male Hip Hop Artiste, Best Collaboration for “Luther” with SZA, and Video of the Year for “Not Like Us.”

At the 2025 BET Awards, Nigerian Afropop artist Ayra Starr was the only African to win. A significant milestone for West African representation on the international stage was reached when the rapidly emerging talent won the coveted Best International Act award.

Kendrick Lamar defeated Nigerian superstar Burna Boy, who was nominated for Best Male Hip Hop Artist. Lamar’s victory was cemented when American artists dominated the Best Male Hip Hop Artist category.

American Leon Thomas even surpassed African hopeful Ayra Starr in the Best New Artist category.
