GES Director Issues Warning to Students About Relying on Leaked Answers for BECE 2025

For the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), the Ghana Education Service (GES) has issued a strong warning to students not to engage in any exam misconduct.

Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis, the Director-General of GES, emphasized the value of integrity and diligence during a press briefing on Monday, June 9, 2025.

Professor Davis urged students to focus on careful preparation rather than relying on “apor,” or answers that have been leaked.

Try your hardest to succeed. Never rely on outside assistance or answers that have been leaked (or “apor”)—it might not come and it won’t help you.

We are calling on everyone to support efforts to eliminate examination malpractice. Any invigilator or supervisor caught aiding malpractice will face severe consequences, which could cost them their jobs. We expect good role models in this system”.

Professor Davis made these comments while reaffirming that the plans for the national examinations have been finalized. The dates of the 2025 BECE are set for Wednesday, June 11, 2025, through June 18, 2025.

The 2025 BECE is scheduled for June 11–18, and everything is ready. All schools have already received the schedule, and exam materials have been sent to district and metropolitan offices nationwide.

There will be 603,328 test takers this year, including both private and school candidates, with 297,250 men and 306,078 women.

With help from security agencies, GES and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) will administer the tests to ensure security and integrity.

While private candidates will take their exams at fifteen designated locations, primarily in regional capitals, school candidates will write their exams at 2,237 locations across the country.

The dates of the BECE are set for Wednesday, June 11–June 18, 2025.
