The National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Communications Officer Sammy Gyamfi has been defended by musician Shatta Wale after a video of him giving money to evangelist Mama Pat, also known as Agradaa, caused a lot of people to take issue.
In the widely shared video, Gyamfi—who is also the Ghana Gold Board’s Acting CEO—is seen giving Agradaa dollar notes. As soon as the video went viral, many critics questioned his intentions and called the gesture inappropriate.
Disappointed by the harsh criticism directed at the politician, Shatta Wale took to Facebook to voice his disappointment. The artist claims that Gyamfi has a lengthy history of helping those in need and that one incident shouldn’t be used to condemn the organization.
”Do you all know when Sammy Gyamfi started helping the streets? All of you should shut up and leave the young man alone if you don’t know about someone’s humble beginnings. We like tarnishing people’s image too much”
Are you all aware of the date that Sammy Gyamfi began assisting the homeless? If none of you are aware of someone’s lowly origins, then you should all stop talking and give the young man some space. We enjoy damaging people’s reputations too much.
