President Mahama cuts ministries from 30 to 23: Check full list

President John Dramani Mahama has rebuilt his administration’s ministries, diminishing their number from 30 to 23. This choice was taken through an Executive Instrument (E.I.) endorsed on Thursday, 9 January 2025.

This move lines up with his mission vow to lay out a lean government with just 60 ministers.

The E.I. issued under Segment 11(3) of the Civil Service Act, Act, 1993 (P.N.D.C.L. 327), presented outstanding changes, including the division of the Ministry of Youth and Sports into the Ministry of Sports and Recreation and the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment. Additionally, the Local Government Ministry has been merged with the Chieftaincy Ministry.
