Following her 45-day prison sentence for contempt of court, well-known Ghanaian socialite and self-described “slay queen” Deborah Seyram Adablah has publicly responded.
After the ruling, which will result in her spending roughly six weeks in jail, Adablah spoke to her fans in a video posted on social media. The news of her conviction caused concern and disappointment among her supporters.
Adablah described how she had a run-in with the presiding judge, who accused her of making disparaging remarks, and explained the circumstances surrounding her sentence.
”Forty-five days, I’ll surely be back. Let’s see what they want to do. I’ll keep you all posted until I reach my confinement”
Adablah was convicted of contempt of court for posting two videos online in which she attacked the judge presiding over her case against Ernest Kwasi Nimako, her ex-partner.
The court determined that her comments were demeaning to the judiciary. Since she allegedly did not show up for her summons to explain herself, a bench warrant for her arrest was issued.
She received a formal sentence of 45 days in prison for contempt from the High Court on Tuesday, May 6, 2025.
After the bench warrant was announced, Adablah once more posted on social media that she would voluntarily turn herself in. Because she did not want to be in conflict with the police, she cautioned the Ghana Police Service against using force to arrest her.
I don’t want trouble, please. I’ll surrender myself. Drama is not necessary.
