The Ghanaian dancehall performer Shatta Wale, whose real name is Charles Nii Armah Mensah, has denied allegations that he has neglected his biological mother.
He responded to the accusations in a live podcast on Saturday, May 25, 2025, saying that he has given his mother several cars and cozy quarters.
”He remarked, “That mother you people have been talking about… I don’t think you people have bought cars for your mother before. I’ve bought cars for my mother; I’ve done things for my mother. It’s just that in this life, you win some and you lose some.”
Shatta Wale added that he has always supported his mother but has opted to keep it off social media, despite the fact that people have been quick to blame him for neglecting her and bring up concerns about her in their arguments with him.
He added, “The number of cars I’ve bought for my mother — it’s just that we didn’t show it on the internet, but those who know, know. The beautiful places I have gotten for my mother to rest her head — you people don’t know about them.”
These statements come in response to recent social media exchanges with content creator Kwadwo Sheldon, who declined Shatta Wale’s offer of assistance after Sheldon’s residence in Pantang was flooded due to heavy rainfall. Sheldon rejected the offer, arguing that Shatta Wale ought to help his own mother instead, whom he claimed was being neglected.
